PAST/CURRENT RESIDENT MINISTERS/MINISTERS

 

On 2nd August 2006, the Tema Joint Church will be 14 years old. Nine (9) Ordained Ministers of the Gospel have so far worked with the Church either on full-time or part- time basis. Three (3) out of the nine are still at post.

Brief description of the appointment and work of all the Ministers who have served at the Tema Joint Church follow.

 

CURRENT  MINISTERS

1.      Rt. Rev. Maclean Agyiri Kumi

On his return from Canada where he had spent six years with the United Church of Canada Rt. the Methodist Church, Ghana posted Rev. Maclean Kumi to the Tema Joint Church in October 2004 as the Resident Minister. Prior to his departure to Canada he was the Secretary to the Methodist Church Conference from 1993 to1998. He is the Head of the TJC Clergy.

 

 

2.      Rev. Canon George Neequaye

The Accra Diocese of the Anglican Church posted him to the TJC in November 2002. While working as a Minister of the TJC he was also appointed as the Co-ordinator of the Tema Industrial Mission (TIM). Owing to pressure of work as a result of several other Ministerial commitments he relinquished the job of the TIM Co-ordinator in April, 2005. He is the Parish Priest in charge of the St Stephen’s Anglican Church, Tema and a Minister of the Tema Joint Church.

 

 

3.      Rev. Dr. Elias Asiama

                  The Presbyterian Church of Ghana posted him to the Tema Joint Church  in

                  November 2002. He is a Lecturer at the School of Performing Arts, University of

                  Ghana, Legon and a Minister of the Tema Joint Church.

 

PAST MINISTERS.

 

1.      Rev. Godwin Nii-Noi Odonkor

Resident Minister, August 1992 – November 2002.

Rev. Godwin Odonkor was the Chaplain of the Tema Industrial Mission          (TIM) prior to the establishment of the Tema Joint Church (TJC).

As a founding member of the TJC, he became the first Resident Minister.

                  The Presbyterian Church of Ghana posted him to the TIM.

                  He is currently the Ghanaian Chaplain in London working through the 

                  United Reformed Church.

 

2.      Rev. Charles Gyaban- Mensah

He was the Assistant Resident Minister, August 1992 - June 2000.

He also worked under Rev. Godwin Odonkor as an Assistant Chaplain with the Tema Industrial Mission during the period. Thereafter he became the Industrial Chaplain in Kumasi until 2002.

                  He is currently the Minister in charge of the Calvary A.M.E. Zion Church,   

                  Comm. 11, Tema.

 

3.      Rev Martin Jaeger

He was a fraternal worker from the Protestant Churches in South-West Germany. In addition to being a Pastor of the TJC, he worked with the Tema Industrial Mission (TIM) and also as Acting Principal of the TIM  -Vocational/Technical Training Centre.

He was posted to TIM in January 1993 and went back to his Church in South West Germany in May 1998.

            

           4.    Rev. Fr. Antonio John Teilo Nelson.                                                                

                  He was the Parish Priest in charge of the St. Alban’s Anglican Church, 

                  Tema.  As an additional responsibility, he was posted to TJC by the Accra

                  Diocese of the Anglican Church in June 1998. He was recalled in

                  October 2002. He is currently the Parish Priest in charge of Christ The

                  King Anglican Church, Sakumono, Tema.

 

 

5.      Rev. Martin Frank 

                 He was a fraternal worker from the Presbyterian Church of Wurttemberg in 

                 South-West Germany. He was both a Minister of the Tema Joint Church 

                 and a  Chaplain with the Tema Industrial Mission. He assumed duty in

                 November 1999 returned to his Church in Wurttemberg, Germany in

                 June 2004.

 

6.   Rev. Dr. Mathias Forson

The Methodist Church, Ghana posted him to the Tema Joint Church in October 2001. In November 2002 he became the Acting Resident Minister. He was recalled in September 2004.  In addition to being a Minister of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Rev. Dr. Mathias Forson is currently the National Director of the International Leadership Training Institute, which is affiliated to the Vision International University, Ramona, California, and U.S.A.
